MEDWAY
RIVER FIRE DEPARTMENTS Queens County,
Nova Scotia
DIRECTIONS TO CHARLESTON
Charleston
is normally
accessed by way of Highway 103, but in nice weather one can come down
the Medway River Road from Route 210 at Greenfield.
Most
of the Greenfield to
Charleston route hugs the banks of the Medway River which has mixed
hardwood, pine and fir. The road is primarily gravel with a few
kilometers at each end being paved. Fall colours, late September to
early October, can be striking.
Coming
from Liverpool on
Highway 103, turn left at Exit 17A, proceed upstream to Mill Village
and past the Mill Village Fire Hall to Charleston. Coming from
Bridgewater on 103, turn right at Exit 17A and proceed as above.
Upon
crossing the bridge
over the Medway the Charleston Fire Hall will be on your left. If
one goes straight, they will be on their way to Riversdale and
Greenfield (see Map ).
If
you turn right and
the take the first left (Hillsview Dr.), you will reach Highway 103
a bit west of Danesville. Turning East on Highway 103 will take you
to Bridgewater and Halifax. The reverse of the proceeding is the
most direct route to Charleston when coming from Bridgewater.
