INTRODUCTION

Much has been written regarding the various subjects dealing with fire safety in the home. Wading through the forest of web hits is a daunting task. We have attempted to borrow from a variety of governmental and educational sources to generate the following treatments. Where possible we have listed web sites related to the discussion. Although we treat Prevention, it needs to be remembered that even the best prevention plans can be beaten by such simple acts as an electrical power surge, lightning, rodents, flooding and human errors. Thus our other topics relate to the question “what can be done to minimize the harm done when prevention fails?
